Sequins Really Are the Party!

What I Wore to Host

I wanted to feel dressy and luxe, but still relaxed so I combined this very biased cut silky dress with a slouchy soft tee. It was comfy but still made me feel festive. That headband did not last very long. I have no shelf on the back of my head to rest head bands on so they just slide right off.

I invited over a bunch of wonderful ladies to share some time in a relaxed atmosphere with food. We also did our nails. =) I know I never really sit down and do mine so I thought I'd put out a tray with pretty polishes just in case anyone else wanted to paint their nails while chatting and almost everyone did. It was such a lovely time to be able to relax and celebrate the season with all my favorite girls (well, almost all).

The Best Colors in the World

I didn't touch up these photos at all, that's how vibrant the leaves and colors were. It was about 4pm and slightly misting. I braided my hair to keep it from being a big 'ol frizzball for this shoot with Azriel. She needed some shots for her Teen Vogue cover for design class. I don't know if I should ever take photos with her again because she is so stinkin beautiful (plus waaaay younger than me, isn't it obvious? lol). It's fun though, because we have similar hobbies and interests in the style/design world. She's definitely not afraid to mix color/pattern which I love. She's pretty rad, period.

Did you miss me?

These outfits are almost EXACTLY the same except for the skirts/belt/floral necklace. We just got an Anne Taylor Loft in Lincoln and I think I have found my favorite store of all time! Anne Taylor is in the same style vein as my beloved Kate Spade but the LOFT version is much more in my budget range. Fun colors, prints, more professional looks that still feel young, and feminine details. Perfect. The only problem I've found is that the clothes sizing is sometimes for a much more womanly figure, not skinny minnies like me. A lot of the tops are boxy and wider than I would typically wear unless made to look oversized in a fluid, drapey fabric. This peplum top above, however, is definitely not boxy. I love the weave of this sweater because it's really tight (the weave, not the fit) so it's warm but still thin so doesn't add extra bulk. And less likely to catch and snag. Those cranberry tights are my favorite this year...I've already gone through two pairs and now on my third...I'm usually not hard on tights but I've snagged one too many on Christmas trees this season as I decorate for various parties.

Happy Birthday Night Out!

I wanted to wear something HOT and go out with the girls so I gathered my besties and went to Blue Orchid for my 29th birthday. I bought this pretty little dress a couple years ago and only wore it once for New Years. I'm thinking I should get some more wear out of it by wearing it as a skirt this winter with a top over it. I feel like there is too much cleavage showing if I wear it like this to anything where I'll see church members/co-workers etc. My little black clutch is vintage and my white tuxedo jacket is F21.

I guess it's time for me to look up my "30 Before 30" list. I made it when I turned 27 and I am pretty certain I havn't achieved anything on it yet, even though they are all simple things like "go ice skating".

Orange Lattice Is My Fav

Added a vintage scarf in a bright blue and orange print as a belt and I really feel like it made this outfit. I felt very pretty and put together in this. Almost enough to wear this exact outfit once a week forever!

Matchy-Matchy

Dressed for church and realized we kind of matched. We got together like PB and J.

A little obsessed with Rit dy

Every time I wear mint green it photographs as almost white. These jeans, however, are mint green and I dyed them myself. I figured out that it's easier to find a pair of white skinny jeans that fit well and then dye them the color you want then to fit into skinny jeans in just any brand, color, and store. Jeans were so much easier to fit when we wore flares. lol

I think I might over dye these kelly green for Fall. whoo hoo!

Bumble Bee

A woman at Noodles told me she liked this outfit. I think it's nice when strangers take time to compliment someone. I should do that more often. I was thinking later that it's kind of funny I got dressed up in this just for lunch because then I went home and changed so I could clean. Can't pass on an opportunity to wear a pretty skirt.

Fourth of July

A little red, white, and blue for work. My co-worker said I looked sooo tall with these huge shoes and skinny pants and my hair pulled into an updo. I can't say I mind. The awesome thing about being medium height is I can decide if I want to be super tall or more petite. ;)

My New Favorite Outfit

I havn't worn this vintage mint green dress since the Golden Girls party. I really like it styled for summer. The peach wicker clutch is so sweet with it. Corals/peaches and minty greens are my favorite colors right now. I looked through an August issue of In Style which is forecasting the Fall trends and I have to say, those oxblood, jade, and royal blue colors have me a little sad to leave summer behind. The colors seem so scratchy and dreary for this bright lovin' gal.

Greece is calling!

I love this outfit (even though I wouldn't wear it except maybe on the beach) but it matches the blue domed buildings of Greece so well. *sigh.

From Karla's Closet.

Long Lost Outfit Photos

Just found these while loading our digital photo frame. I never blogged them and a flower in the hair has to be blogged. Can't waste a good hair accessory. Actually this hair accessory is truly for accenting a birthday present. I bought it in the wrapping paper supplies. ;)
